About Dubravka Ugresic

Dubravka Ugresic (website), born 1949, is Croatian literary scholar and writer. During the Bosnian war, her strong anti-war stance and criticiscm of both Croatian and Serbian nationalism meant she was branded a traitor and ostracised by the media, politicians, fellow writers and anonymous citizens. She eventually left the country in 1993. Her novels have been translated into twenty languages and her essays published in major international newspapers and magazines. She is currently based in Amsterdam where she works as a freelance writer.
